Firstly, I totally didn't mean the
"i don't know what i have in common with anyone anymore." comment. I was just in wenchy-mc-wench-pants mode... Ask me about it if you really must.
Nasty, nasty boys, gimme a nasty groove!
Yesterday I went crazy manic style and wrote about thirty different TO DO lists. I decided in my over-confidence to make some concrete plans...and some of them have stuck. To begin with, I am going to finish uni. Not only finish hons, but go back, do a few necessary arts subjects and then a dip. ed. Being a teacher would not be the worst thing in the world. I get frequent holidays and if I work in the right areas and schools, I could live quite comfortably. That said, I would have to possibly teach a syllabus I don't respect to people I don't respect in bizzare and stupid places...but it is an achieveable long term goal and I'm gonna keep it in mind. Sigh. I also made a split decision to quit at IKEA, take a few weeks off as "mental health" days, and work somewhere closer to home or in some area i'm actually interested in. Also, my supervisor completely flipped out when I said I needed time off for family matters. "We don't have enough staff!" etc. She did apologise and give me the time off, but I can see managers above her challenging me about it and not being so empathetic. I then had this weirdo epiphany where I realized that my health is always second to the company (yeah, duh, the nature of modern business) and that I could have picked a few jobs with a little less responsibility. Sigh. So, I'm taking time off and getting a new job, and giving notice.
On a more positive note, come see music with me! I can't find anyone who wants to see the Animal Collective at Newtown RSL on the 4th of November... Come with me! Someone! Anyone?? Sarah Blasko is touring, as is the Mountain Goats (!!), Modest Mouse (!!!), and the New Pornographers (!!). Plus, St Jeromes looks sooo good for next year, with Yo La Tengo, the Walkmen and Camera Obscura playing...wheeeee!! This totally makkes up for the dismal Big Day Out announcement. Le Yay!
Oh, and I know I know almost everyone has panned it and I know I know I know that it doesn't open here till boxing day but I am obsessed with the Marie Antoinette trailer. Gang of Four! New Order! The Cure! How cool would you be if Marianne Faithfull was your mother, huh? huh?
We've been trying to find pictures of my Great Aunt Doongie everywhere, but she was good at avoiding the camera. My mother considers her a widow, even though she ws never married, but in a relationship for over twenty years. He couldn't divorce his catholic wife, so he eventually changed his name to hers as a sign of committment. Cute. They owned flower farms and upholstry businesses together in the fifties and sixtes. She also had a mysterious 'revenge marriage' in the late seventies that no-one knows about or talks about. Odd. All this but NO PHOTOS!
However, I did find some daggy ones of my sister and myself:
Oooooooooohhhhh yeahhhh. Inspector Gadget, indeed.
I must be off to write. Ciao, lovers.
